Our ACT Addvantage tutors are professional experts in their respective fields. Our team of Math, Science, Reading and English ACT tutors work together to meet each student's individualized needs.

Lisa Finke

Lisa Finke is the director and founder of Math Addvantage and ACT Addvantage. With over 30 years of tutoring experience, she currently specializes in teaching the science and math portions of the ACT as well as high school math. She has a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University.

“I enjoy getting to know each student and watching him or her become competent in a subject that was once difficult. I am particularly perceptive about how to teach students with different learning styles. It is important to me to establish a caring and fun environment at the center for all the students. Tutoring is my passion!”

Laura Petersen

Laura Petersen has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked for 5 years in both manufacturing and design engineering of computer systems. She has been tutoring at Math Addvantage for 20 years.

Sue Knight

Sue Knight attended St. Olaf College and the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities where she studied psychology and education. She worked for 18 years in the travel industry before taking time off to raise her three children. She has been with Math Addvantage for 16 years.

Jessica Fletcher

Jessica has a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse, where she also worked in the Writing Center on campus. She worked as an Editor at Thomson Reuters before taking time off to raise her three children. She also volunteers in the library at her children's elementary school, and in the classroom, reading one-on-one with 1st grade students. Jessica started tutoring with ACT Addvantage in 2014.

Studying for the ACT exam can be a very intense and stressful time in a student's life, and I really enjoy working with these young adults and helping them gain not only the skills, but also the confidence needed to succeed. I believe that the one on one attention we give our students, in addition to the fun and caring environment we foster, really sets ACT Addvantage apart from other tutoring centers!"  

Will Sharpe

Will is a recent graduate from the University of Iowa with a degree in Mathematics. Will is our expert in Math PLUS program , helping our youngest students do well. He has a strong love of Math and Science and is planning on pursuing a teaching degree. This is Will's fourth year with Math Addvantage.

"I love the challenge of math but also understand the frustration it can bring. Being the oldest of four siblings has taught me a lot about patience and persistence, especially when helping with math homework. If I can make a student smile while learning a subject they might not necessarily enjoy then I've done my job correctly."

Matt Boehlke

Mathew Boehlke is a recent graduate from Wisconsin Lutheran College with a degree in Mathematics. While there, he earned several scholarship awards for performance in Mathematics.  Mathew has worked with students of many different ages in the past, from working with elementary students in after school programs to tutoring undergraduate chemistry students while at WLC. Mat started working at Math Addvantage in 2015.

"I love to see the gears turn in a student's mind.  Mathematics is not only relevant in our lives, but helps us develop problem solving skills, which are crucial no matter what we do.  I am happy if I can be a part of helping students succeed and not get discouraged, which is why I am grateful for the chance to work with Math Addvantage."

Anne Fry

Anne Fry has a Bachelor's Degree from Bryn Mawr College and a PhD in Physics from the University of North Carolina. She worked at Lifetouch, Inc. before taking time off to raise her son. She has worked as an elementary school reading and math support paraprofessional and develops Android apps as an independent developer. She is excited to return to Math Addvantage in 2016 after a 8 year hiatus.

Kelly Wong

Kelly Wong has a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from the University of North Carolina. She worked for 15 years at Northwest Airlines leading the international revenue management departments before leaving to pursue her own interests in consulting and tutoring. Kelly began tutoring at Math Addvantage in 2016.

"Working at Math Addvantage has been incredibly rewarding.  I really enjoy getting to know the students and seeing them gain confidence in their math and problem solving skills.  I also appreciate the collaborative atmosphere at Math Addvantage.  The tutors are all amazing--we all learn from and share teaching strategies with one another."

Amy Hall 

Amy Hall has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry from the College of Saint Benedict and a Masters of Education from the University of Minnesota--Twin Cities. She taught middle school science for two years before deciding to pursue Occupational Therapy. She is currently a graduate student at the University of Minnesota--Twin Cities in the Masters of Occupational Therapy degree program. She plans to work as a school Occupational Therapist after graduation. This is will be her second school year tutoring with Math Addvantage.

There is nothing better than solving a difficult math problem correctly and watching the students make those connections. Jessica Davis

Jessica Davis has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. Jessica works as a health inspector for the Minnesota Department of Health, where she gets to use her love of science to educate people on the many aspects of food safety. Jessica joined ACT Addvantage in 2018. 

"I've always had a passion for math and science.I realize that most students I work with won’t share that passion, but if I can help them improve their ACT scores that means getting them one step closer to pursuing their passion, and that’s a great feeling!"

Mikolai Altenberg

Mikolai Altenberg expects to graduate this fall from Tulane University with a degree in Biomedical Engineering and minors in Math and Japanese. He is excited to join the MathAdd team and share his lifelong joy of learning! He strives every day to inspire people to appreciate and love Math. Miko joined Math Addvantage in 2018.
