Does Your Child Need Tutoring?

Most people have a preconceived notion about who can benefit from math tutoring. Yet you may be surprised by the makeup of our students. Some of our students are struggling, while others are thriving and need additional challenges. Others are doing just fine in school, but require further explanation or need some extra one-on-one time to have questions answered.

Depending on each child’s needs, we offer one-on-one tutoring, semi-private or small group sessions. We also offer four 45-minute Drop-In times for added convenience each week for a minimal cost.

If you’re wondering if your child may benefit from enrolling at Math Addvantage, simply call 651-452-6119 or email info@mathaddvantage.com.

FAQs

What kind of sessions do you offer?  We offer private, semi-private and group sessions. After discussing the student’s needs with parents, we determine which setting is best for each student.

How often do you meet? Students typically attend once a week. If interested, students can take advantage of four drop-in sessions each week to ask additional questions.

How long are sessions?  Private and semi-private sessions last 45 minutes and group sessions last one hour.

What do you do during sessions?  Sessions are loosely divided into three parts, depending on the student's need. We review concepts learned during the week and practice problems to reinforce them; cover current homework and preparation for upcoming tests; and “pre-teach” based on upcoming material. However, a test or quiz is always a session's top priority.

What subjects do you tutor? Because we tutor only math, we tutor subjects from elementary math all the way through to advanced high school courses. Subjects include, but are not limited to, algebra I, algebra II, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus and statistics.

Where are you located? Math Addvantage is conveniently located just off 35E at 1474 Yankee Doodle Road in Yankee Square Shopping Center of Eagan. For directions, click here.

Do you offer a discount for multiple children from one family? Yes. At the end of the school year, families with more than one student enrolled at Math Addvantage will receive a 10% refund of the total paid charges for the lesser paid student.

How do you assess my child's needs? After discussing with parents the student’s needs and math history, we map out a curriculum-supportive approach that’s best designed for each specific child. We will utilize our testing program to fill in gaps of knowledge if we feel it is necessary.

What are the qualifications of the tutors? Our tutors focus exclusively on math and have a thorough understanding of math concepts. In addition, our tutors regularly participate in on-going education on topics most relevant to them. They are completely comfortable teaching everything from elementary math through calculus. Our tutors include licensed teachers, degreed engineers and mathematicians.

Our tutors consider it a privilege to work with your children and enjoy getting to know the students as individuals with diverse interests, learning needs and personalities. Beyond their technical understanding of mathematics, our tutors are exceptional at communicating with children.

What does tutoring cost? The cost differs due to factors such as the subject taught and whether the class is private or a group setting.

What happens if my child can't make it to their regularly scheduled session? We make every effort to reschedule a session during the same week. If that doesn’t work, however, Math Addvantage will offer a designated make-up time.

Progress Reports

To keep parents informed about their student’s progress, progress reports are sent via email on a weekly basis. The progress reports are intended to address topics covered, student preparation and the qualitative nature of each session.
