About Math Addvantage

Our Approach

Most people hear about Math Addvantage from neighbors and friends that speak highly of our solid reputation. You may wonder, though, what makes Math Addvantage unique. And that’s an important question to ask when your student’s future is at stake. While some services boast national or even international status in the marketplace, Math Addvantage is proud to simply say that no other math tutoring company provides a more personalized and influential service to its students and their parents.

We’ve tutored math—exclusively—for nearly 20 years. This focus allows us to provide the highest possible level of math expertise. We provide math tutoring for all grade levels, from elementary math to the most advanced high school courses (including calculus) and advanced placement courses. And because our tutors are so immersed in the subject matter, they’re able to teach difficult concepts in a variety of ways. Our tutors know that sometimes math can be tough and that a teaching method that helps one student succeed may not be right for another. Our expertise, coupled with our understanding of a student’s unique learning style, set us apart from other tutoring services.

Our in-depth approach to helping our students begins with a curriculum-specific method. In other words, we specifically incorporate what’s being taught in a student’s math class to reinforce the skills they’re learning during the day. This approach ensures that our students get the most benefit out of their tutoring efforts, allowing them to experience immediate success at school and setting the stage for future opportunities.

We’re proud to say that our students look forward to their tutoring sessions at Math Addvantage! As tutoring continues to emerge as an accepted component of one’s education, Math Addvantage creates an atmosphere where students can learn while having fun. We’re not a typical classroom—and our students appreciate the change of scenery!

The result? Hundreds of students, from dozens of schools, have achieved truly positive outcomes and a thorough understanding of math concepts. Their confidence in other subject areas increases, and they demonstrate greater learning in many academic areas. Our students improve their understanding of math concepts and reap even greater personal and scholastic rewards that follow.

Math Matters!

In a recent speech given to a conference of governors, Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates explained that our fourth-graders rank among the top students in the world in the subjects of math and science. Those students have slipped to the middle of the pack by eighth grade. By 12th grade, U.S. students are scoring near the bottom of all industrialized nations.

According to a news release dated April 19, 2006, Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings released a parent checklist that outlines key things parents can do to help ensure their children are prepared for higher education, as well as the competitive workforce of today's global economy. The parent checklist encourages parents to engage in their child's education and future, including reminding them of the importance of math and science and taking four years of each in high school, even if it is not required.

Undoubtedly not all children will grasp this idea of competing for jobs in a global market. Yet as committed parents, we can at least keep their possibilities open by ensuring our children are proficient in math. We can choose to begin a more concerted effort to provide our children with a strong foundation in math. In doing so, we can help them understand and enjoy math, holding open future doors and possibilities.

Tutor Profiles

Unlike most tutoring companies, Math Addvantage tutors only math. The benefit for students is the depth and breadth of knowledge our tutors offer. Math Addvantage tutors focus exclusively on math and, because of their deep understanding, are comfortable tutoring everything from elementary math through calculus. In addition, our tutors regularly participate in on-going education on topics most relevant to them. Our tutors include licensed teachers, degreed engineers and mathematicians.

We consider it a privilege to work with our students. And we respect their admirable commitment to tutoring. We enjoy getting to know the students as individuals with diverse interests, learning needs and personalities. Beyond their technical understanding of mathematics, our tutors are exceptional at communicating with children.

To ensure peace of mind for our parents, we professionally screen all of our tutors prior to hiring them.
